Katerina Cooper, ARDMS
Founder, The Pure Scan
Katerina Cooper is a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with more than seven years of experience in ultrasound imaging.
She founded The Pure Scan to expand access to breast ultrasound through clinic-based and mobile screening services. Katerina works with healthcare providers and community partners to support breast health education and access to ultrasound imaging.
All imaging studies performed through The Pure Scan are interpreted by board-certified radiologists.
What to Expect
Breast ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of breast tissue rather than ionizing radiation.
1. Preparation
You will change into a gown and remove clothing from the waist up. No special preparation is usually required.
2. Positioning
You will lie on the examination table and may be asked to raise one arm above your head.
3. Gel Application
A warm, water-based gel will be applied to the skin.
4. Imaging
The ultrasound transducer will be gently moved across the breast and axillary area to capture images.
5. Less Than 20 Minutes
Screening takes less than 20 minutes.
6. After the Exam
You may return to your normal activities after the exam. Your images will be reviewed by a board-certified radiologist.
